Funeral services for Raymond ''Chicken'' Lemoine of Simmesport will take place at the Christ the King Catholic Church of Simmesport on Monday, October 31, 2016, beginning at 10:00am. Visitation will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and will resume on Monday at 8:00am. Burial service will commence at the Christ the King Catholic Cemetery.

''Chicken'', age 73, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Avoyelles Hospital of Marksville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke & Mattie Lemoine. He is survived by his children, Rapheal Lemoine (Anne) of Cottonport, Kenneth Lemoine (Tessa) of Mansura, & Sharon Lemoine (Travis) of Simmesport; brothers and sisters, Larry Lemoine, James ''Buster'' Lemoine, Jo Ann Meche, and Jane Raggio. He is also survived his grandson Zeddicus Lemoine.

Mr. Batiste, age 52, of Marksville, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Ellen Corner Batiste.
Those left to cherish her memory include his brother, Curtis Alton Batiste of Alexandria, numeorus family and many friends.

Mr. Moreau, age 90, of Marksville, passed away at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville on Thursday, October 27, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Estelle Michot Moreau; brothers, Eugene Moreau, Jules Moreau, Alvin Moreau, Mervin Moreau; sister, Neddie M. Gormsen, and his twin sister, Pauline Fontaine.
Those left to cherish his memory include numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until shortly before funeral service.

Virginia Lachney, age 77, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Colonial Nursing Home in Marksville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Della Jeansonne Ponthieux, Sr.; sister, Janett Saucier; and brothers, Adolph “A.J.” Ponthieux and Clarence Ponthieux, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 31 years, Irvin Wayne of Marksville; sons, Jessie Hopkins of Pineville, Blaine Hopkins of Florida, and James Hopkins of Virginia; three sisters, Peggy Ponthieux of Simmesport, Iris Evans of Ball and Grace Karrigan of LaPlace; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

BUNKIE - Funeral services for Aaron Adrian Bordelon will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 12 noon in the chapel of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie with Dr. Diane Bijeaux officiating. Burial will be in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.
Visitation will be at Melancon Funeral Home on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Bordelon, age 77, of Bunkie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Alexandria VA Medical Center. He was born on October 20, 1939.
Aaron served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, which was a source of great pride to him. He worked as a Cummings diesel mechanic offshore worker and as a farmer. He will always be remembered for his laughter, quick whit and his caring for people he loved.He was well known for the endearing things he did. Through his illness he always kept his spirit up and had a great sense of peace. He would want all to remember him laughing.
He is survived by three sisters, Barbara Bordelon of Lafayette, Irma Rhodes of Lafayette and Diane Bijeaux of Breaux Bridge; and two brothers, Donald Bordelon of Shreveport and Glynn Bordelon of Lafayette.
Special thanks for the devoted care and love extended by the staff at the Alexandria VA Medical Center.
Memorials may be sent to the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Cheneyville in loving memory of his mother, Jane “MaMee” Bordelon.

Ms. Durbin, age 38 of Hessmer, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her residence. She was born o February 23, 1978.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jean and Gordon Peters, Gloria Durbin, Marvin Mounce; one brother, Christian Moses; and cousin, Zach Mounce.
Survivors include one son, Beau Michael Gates of Hessmer; two daughters, Chasity Michelle (Juan) Gates of Mansura, and Caley Marie Gates of Hessmer; mother, Connie Mounce of Marksville; father, Michael Durbin, Sr. of Georgia; daddy, Bobby Moses of Mansura; two brothers, Michael (Naralyn) Durbin Jr. of Iowa and Shawn Paul (Kayla) Mounce of Mansura; two sisters, Charlotte “Charlie” (David) Dauzat of Bluetown and April Moses (Fred) Cady of Bunkie; two grandchildren, Colby Johnson, and Chardanaye “Naye-Naye” Gates; soulmate, Jerry Brevelle of Hessmer; uncle and aunt, Bret and Lori Mounce of Baton Rouge; aunt, Sharon Cahill of Mansura; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

September 3rd, 1928 in New Orleans and died on Monday October 31st in Baton Rouge at age 88 after a brief illness. She was raised in Colfax, LA and after graduating Colfax HS, she attended LSU on a music scholarship and majored in journalism. Jean met the love of her life, Clyde, at an LSU dance and they would have been married 70 years in December. She loved ballroom dancing and was a member of the tap dancing group The Jammin Grannies. Jean taught hundreds of children and adults to swim over a 36 year span. As a talented golfer, she won ladies championships at Fairwood Country Club and Denham Springs Country Club. Jean also made the first hole-in-one ever recorded at Tamahka Trails Golf Course in Marksville, LA. Jean loved to travel and seeing the world, whether going on cruises, flying to Europe, or driving a motor home all over North America. The Colorado Rocky Mountains were her favorite camping destination! She loved nature, being outdoors, horses, and cats. She truly lived life to its fullest! She was a former member of FMCA and The Cruisin Cajuns. Jean was very active in her church, having served as usher, lector, and Eucharistic minister. Jean is survived by her husband Clyde, and her children Jan Meyers Wilkerson, Glynn Meyers Rubin, Lynn Meyers Fogg and husband Kenny, Catherine Meyers Douglas and husband John, Kerry Meyers and wife Jenny, Cindy Meyers Hollier, Dennis Meyers and wife Kelli. Grandchildren Jennifer Waddick, Shannon Rubin, Suzanne Moss, Kevin Fogg, Kelly Regueira, Kori Juban, Sarah Rathbun, Anna Douglas, Dustin Meyers, Scott Meyers, Rachel Brewster, Callie Geier, Trent Meyers, and Luke Meyers, as well as 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Aline Erwin McKnight, father Lloyd J. Soulier, step-father Luther McKnight, and son-in-law Gordon Wilkerson. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston, LA on Wednesday, November 2nd from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, November 3rd at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs from 10:00 – noon, with funeral mass to follow. Burial will follow in Resthaven Garden of Memories, Baton Rouge.

BELLEDEAU - A Graveside Memorial Service for Gene Huey Evans will be held on Sunday November 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Belledeau Baptist Cemetery - 1204 Highway 114 (Belledeau Hwy)- Hessmer, LA - 71341.  Arrangements are under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.  
Gene Evans, age 78, passed from this life on Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home in Madisonville due to a short illness. He was born on May 11,1938 in Belledeau. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Evans of Jena and Neze Dauzat Evans of Echo.
Gene spent his years as a transportation driver hauling building materials, automobiles, oil field equipment and various other commodities across the U.S. Over his career, he logged over 150,000 miles. He truly enjoyed his many hunting trips with his grandson, and numerous lunch outings with his granddaughter. For 39 years he was a resident of Jefferson Parish where he raised his children, and then he and his wife moved to Madisonville 13 years ago. He was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, General Nathan Bedford Forrest Camp 1931, and a member of Teamster Local Union.
  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diana Dupont Evans, a native of Cottonport; his three daughters, Pamela (Gerard) Herty of St. Tammany Parish, Sherri (Darrell) Dragon of St.Tammany Parish and Gwen (Brian) DaLeo of Jefferson Parish; and his sister, Mary (Jay) Littleton of Polland; his grandchildren, Corie Dragon (Bruce) Johnson, Daniel P. Dragon, Nicole DaLeo; and his great-grandchild, Oliver Bendana. 
  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the La. Division Sons of Confederate Veterans ( ATTN: Large Flag Fund) - P.O. Box 8428 - Shreveport La. 71148-8428 in memory of Gene Evans.

Eva Mae Townsend, age 75, passed away on Sunday October 30, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in New Orleans. She was born on February 28, 1941.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Olivia Johnson Townsend, Sr.; sister, Olivia J. Townsend; and brother, Clarence Townsend, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, Donnie Ray Parker of New Orleans and Gregory Parker of New Orleans; sister, Christine Lanehart of Lettsworth; brother, J.B. Johnson of New Orleans; and her two grandchildren, Keisha Parker and Gregriana Brown.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Bordelon earned her wings and was reunited with her late husband, Jimmie Wayne Bordelon, Sr., at age 70 on October 31, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 7, 1946.
She was originally from Hamburg but resided in Belle Chasse. Jackie was the daughter of the late Emily and Daniel Rachal; the sister of late brothers, Bobby Rachal and Joseph “Sonny” Rachal; Loving mother of the late Davy (Donna) Clark, Jimmy (Laurie) Bordelon and Danielle Rojas; MawMaw to Shane (Morgan), Nicholas, Ashton, Allie, Parish, Michelle, Brandon, Brittany and the late Paige, whom we know she is rocking.
Besides being MawMaw to her grandchildren, Jackie enjoyed her daily coffee visits with the Golden Girls: Blondie, Katherine, Ruby and Mary Ann. When Jackie wasn’t busy visiting, she could be found in the kitchen cooking gumbo for family and friends or tending to her beautiful flower beds.

Sandy was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Marksville. She passed away November 1, 2016 at 2:08 am at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. As an environmental attorney, she was a partner with Kean Miller Law Firm for over 20 years. Sandy is survived by two beautiful, adopted daughters, Elizabeth Rhea Edwards and Claire Olivia Louise Edwards, who she loved more than life itself; two sisters, June Edwards and Gayle Edwards; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandy is also survived by her lifetime friends, Daniel Dunbar, Kathy Catanzaro, Ellie and Ricky Bercier. Preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Rhea Ducote Edwards. Sandy received her Master's Degree in Microbiology from L.S.U. and her Juris Doctorate Degree from L.S.U. Law School. She was noted for numerous publications and her work with Exxon Corporation. She was a very generous and charitable person by going above and beyond what was asked of her. She was also a fanatical L.S.U. football fan and loved her dogs, Magic and Molly, along with her "hell cat", Ava Puff. Visiting will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue, Friday, November 4, 2016, from 4:30 pm until Mass of Christian Burial at 6:30 pm celebrated by Father Randy Cuevas. Graveside services will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery, #2, Marksville, LA, Saturday November 5, 2016, at noon. Pallbearers will be Daniel Dunbar, Ricky Bercier, Casey Toups, Hoang Nguyen, Arthur Turner and Leonard Kilgore. Special thanks to her mother, Rhea Ducote Edwards, Dr. Richard Vincent, Rose and Arthur Turner, Callie Cline-Becnel, Gail Stephenson, Karen Chaisson, Gina Rapp and Gladys Kinney for their devoted care and support. Funeral services for Louise Gagnard of Alexandria, originally of Marksville, will be held Friday, November 4, 2016, at 11:00 am at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville, with Reverend Dan O’Connor officiating. Visitation will be observed from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, November 3, 2016, with the rosary recited at 6:30, and then from 9:00 am Friday until time of service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum #1.

Mrs. Gagnard, 89, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Matthews Memorial Health Care Center in Alexandria. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Marksville High School in 1945, and salutatorian of her class at Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette (now USL). She was the secretary at Huddle Elementary School in Alexandria for over 20 years. She was a devout Catholic and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital and was a Reach to Recovery volunteer for the Cancer Society for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, gardening and especially hummingbirds.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Mark A. Gagnard; her parents, Albert and Aline Gremillion of Marksville; and her sister, Kathleen Gremillion of Marksville.

She is survived by her three daughters, Laura G. Callico (Paul) of Woodworth, LA; Alice G. Kendrick (Kevin) of Dallas, TX; and Marie Gagnard of Lafayette, LA; her son, Bruce M. Gagnard (Amy) of Woodworth, LA; and her two grandchildren, Jay Kendrick and Sara Kendrick of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Gremillion of Marksville, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Charles Anthony Bordelon – a native of Marksville, LA and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 30 years, died Monday, October 31, 2016 in a local hospital. Mr. Bordelon was the owner of CAB Electric Company in Mobile. He was preceded in death by his parents, Camille Paul and Hazel LaBorde Bordelon; and two sisters, Ina Bordelon DeSoto and Myrtle Bordelon Nugent. He is survived by his wife, Sue B. Bordelon; three children, Renee Lemoine, Scott Bordelon, and Kathryn (Wayne) Etheridge; and five grandchildren, Rachel Bordelon, Alex Bordelon, Will Etheridge, Michael Bordelon, and Ben Etheridge. A memorial service will be held at the chapel of Brookside Retirement Community in Mobile, Alabama at 10 A.M. on Thursday, November 3, 2016. She was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers, seven sisters and her husband, Edwis Bernard.

She is survived by one son, Lennox Bernard and his wife Sue of Brouillette; one daughter, Gloria Coco and her husband Chester of Marksville; 6 grandchildren;12 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. 

  Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Hixson Brothers.
