Una Juneau, age 83, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016. She retired from the Avoyelles Parish School Board System. She was a member and past President of the American Legion Auxillary Unit 186, member of the Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport. She was also active in Bingo every Thursday. Gene Joseph Ponthieux passed away peacefully, entering into eternal rest on November 16, 2016 at the age of 77 years. He was born on January 16, 1939 in Marksville, Louisiana. Gene was predeceased by his father, Edgar Ponthieux; his mother Dorothy Couvillion Ponthieux; his sister, Janet Ponthieux Normand; his niece, Nona Normand Dubea, and his nephew, Blaine Joseph Normand. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Marie Ponthieux and Elizabeth Ponthieux Jones; his granddaughter, Sarah Beth Wahl and his former wife, Carolyn Broussard Ducharme.
Gene graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1961 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education. He continued his advanced education by receiving his Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Louisiana State University (LSU) at Baton Rouge in 1965. He began his career in Iberville Parish as a Teacher, Coach and Principal of White Castle High School. In 1980, he continued his career as an Administrator at the Louisiana State Department of Education and then worked in Sales and Marketing with McGraw Hill Publishing Company. In 1995, he returned to the field of education for the newly established Baton Rouge Community College where he was a Dean of Arts and Sciences. He later taught Mathematics at Baton Rouge Community College and River Parishes Community College, where he retired as a Professor in Mathematics.
Those who knew Gene and were close to him experienced his compassion, resilience, tenacity and love of life that touched the lives of so many people during the course of his lifetime. He was a loving father, teacher, mentor and confidant who always encouraged others to reach for the top, pursue their dreams, and never give up on climbing the mountain to achieve success. Because of his positive influence, he helped to change the course of many lives.

Mr. Woodson, age 82, of Deville entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Colonial Nursing Home in Marksville.
Ambrose Woodson was born to Monroe and Tressie Woodson. He was a loving father, devoted husband and faithful Christian. He cherished time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force, he was employed for 52 years at Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital where he retired as the Clinical Chief of Pathology. He served faithfully for many years as a board member and Sunday School Superintendent for the Deville Pentecostal Church. In his spare time he was an avid gardener.
He is preceded in death by his son, Gregory A. Woodson; one daughter-in-law, Pam Woodson; one sister, Corrine Vail; and one brother, Hilton E. Woodson.

Delories Elmira Bell Lanehart, age 54, passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home on the afternoon of Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her home. She was surrounded and supported by her loving husband and family. While we are uncertain of why she departed this life, we are confident that when God says, ''Old thy good and faithful servant well done, come now and enter unto they rest, we who believe on Him know we will see her again.
She was born on November 10, 1962.
Mrs. Lanehart was a life-long resident of Lettsworth, Louisiana, but periodically lived in New Orleans only to return to her home town. She was baptized at an early age in 1969 by the late Reverend Henry of the Tree of Life Baptist Church. She was honored to serve as the church’s secretary and lived a life as a devout Christian. She was a graduate of Pointe Coupee High School where she developed her talents as a pianist. She attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, but soon realized her calling was in nursing. She graduated from Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans but brought her skills and talents to her home community where she worked as a registered nurse in geriatric psych, pediatrics and long term care.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elmira Reynolds Bell, and John Paul Bell.
Mrs. Lanehart is survived by her soul mate and love of her life for the last 32 years, her husband, Mr. Samuel Lanehart, Sr.; her step-children: Tongila Lanehart (Calvin) Jones, De’Oandra (Latisha) Lanehart and Theron (Nichole) Lanehart; her best friend, confidant and sister, Shawna Bell Mitchell; step-brother, Minister Gregory Brooks; step-sister, Kasandra Adams; her beloved God children: Nadia Elizabeth Turner (niece), Xavier Elijah Mitchell (nephew), Nytavis Beco (nephew) and Alaydea Serf (cousin); great aunt, Judy Mae Rachel; uncles, Joseph Francois and Roosevelt Hatford; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends to celebrate her homegoing.

Lillian Brooks Prier, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Hessmer Nursing Facility in Hessmer. Lillian was born on March 24, 1933 to the late Harry and Louisiana Sampson Brooks.
Lillian was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, member of the St. Peter Claver Court 174, and member of the Altar Society. She worked and retired from the Garan Manufacturing Clothing and Textile Plant in Marksville. Lillian married the late Allen J. Prier in February of 1950 and to this union, six children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, three sisters, one brother, and her son-in-law.

Dianne Cooper, age 71, passed away at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Dianne was born on May 9, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to the late Edward Lee Nicholas and Phyllis Ann Williams. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Billy Ray Cooper, where she moved to Louisiana in 1996. Throughout her time in Louisiana, she worked for Avoyelles Sheriff’s Office where she earned the title of Sergeant for so many years. Diane was preceded in death by her father, Edward Nicholas; sister, Elaine Davis; and husband, Billy Ray Cooper.

Mary Ellen Lemoine Hutchinson, 77 years old, was called to be with her Heavenly Father peacefully on November 22, 2016. She entered this world on November 3, 1939 in Plaucheville born to Howard and Frankie Lemoine.

Martin Villemarette, age 84, passed away at Grace Home Hospice in Alexandria on Saturday, November 26, 2016. He was born on March 2, 1932.
Martin was honorably discharged from U.S. National Guard and was a carpenter by trade for most of his life. He was a family man, enjoying get-togethers with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Stories of his childhood and his life lessons were often told to his children and grandchildren. Music was a pass-time for Buff constantly whistling, singing, or occasionally playing the harmonica. His favorite hobby was fishing for gar on the bayou. His personality was a comical one; and if he was teasing or making fun of you, it was because he truly loved you. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theogene and Eugenia Villemarette; sister, Marjorioe Normand; and brothers, Roland Villemarette, Huron Villemarette, Louis Villemarette, Rodney Villemarette, and Paul Villemarette.

Eugene “Gene” James LaBorde, 85, was called home to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 24, 2016 in Bossier City. was born on December 17, 1930 in Marksville but Gene moved to Bossier City in 1950 to start his family. He was a lifelong member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a Master Cabinet Maker for 46 years. He began his career at Bossier Millworks where he worked for 27 years.
In 1976, he opened and ran his own business, LaBorde's Custom Cabinets until he retired. Gene enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with his family. He will be remembered as a kind, generous and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father Cloger LaBorde and mother Lorinda Bonnette; brothers, Nolan and Rosemond; sister, Lirel; and grandson Christopher Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Audrey Dupuy LaBorde; his sister, RaeAnna LaBorde; children, Glenn LaBorde, Ann LaBorde (Chester) Simpson, Randall (Mary Sue) LaBorde, Celeste LaBorde (Dan) Foster, Clare (Steve) Gordon, Monica LaBorde, Cecilia (Bobby “Von”) Berry, Stephanie (Paul) Webb and Yvonne (Kelly) Walker; grandchildren, Sharon LaBorde, Jean Paul LaBorde, Roger LaBorde, Renée Mitchell, Abigail James, Penny DeTello, Madeline Naquin, Matthew Olinde, Reade Webb and Lucas Webb; and great-grandchildren, Valerie Naquin and Nathan Mitchell.

Louis Patrick Gaspard (PG, Patch, Grumps), age 60, peacefully passed away November 19, 2016 at Ochsner Main Campus Hospital in Jefferson, LA. Patrick was born in Marksville, LA to Allen and Amy Gaspard on March 1, 1956. He married Tanya Clement Gaspard on April 21, 2000 in LaPlace, LA.
Patrick is survived by Tanya Gaspard, Vincent Gaspard (Mechelle), Barrette Trosclair, Jr. (Kristy), Austin Trosclair (Erika) and Destiny Trosclair, Paul Gaspard, David Gaspard (Rhonda), Edwina (Sis) Deselle (Mickey), Allen Gaspard (Denise), Karsyn Trosclair, Nola Trosclair, and Callan Trosclair along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Patrick is preceded in death by Allen Gaspard, Sr., Amy Gaspard, Amy (Cotine) Gaspard, Joseph (Joey) Gaspard and Dale A. Clement, Sr.
A memorial service with visitation will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. ROSE LYNN FUNERAL SERVICES, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, LA is in charge of the arrangements.

“Dunnie,” age 72, resident of Marksville, died November 23, 2016 at the Oakhaven Community Care Center in Centerpoint. He was born on April 25, 1943.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clardy and Clara (Desselle) Jacobs; brother, Alfred Jacobs; and a grandchild, Enjolie Jones.

Paul Johnson, age 90, passed away at the Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital of Alexandria on Monday, November 28, 2016. He was born on May 18, 1926.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loyola Johnson; parents, Henry and Vergie Martin Johnson; siblings, Joseph Johnson, Lenora Celestine, Ebenezer Johnson, Mamie Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Helen Kyle, and Gertie Kyle.

Linda Gagnard, age 73, passed away at the Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home of Dupont on Monday, November 28, 2016. She was born on August 15, 1943.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Gagnard; and parents, Clebert and Ethel Guidry.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Gagnard of Cottonport; sons, Russell Gagnard of Plaucheville, and Rene Gagnard of Sulphur; daughter, Rebecca Gagnard of Independence; five grandchildren; and her sisters, Sharon, Fay, Jessie, Wanda, and Susie.
