Rodney Glenn Greenhouse, age 59 of Marksville

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rodney Greenhouse will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Marksville with the Rev. Abraham Barghese officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Greenhouse, age 59 of Marksville, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at his residence.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Michael Greenhouse and Waiver Wallace; his step-mother, Bertha Barton Greenhouse; his grandparents, Alvin and Rose Greenhouse and Johnny and Ceanna Wallace; a sister, Diane Broussard; a step-brother, Robert Barton; and a nephew, Jovondre Ravare.

Survivors include three sisters, Gail Greenhouse, Wanda Desselles and husband Allen, and Linda Ravare all of Marksville; three step-brothers, Hank Barton, Rodney Barton both of Marksville and Gregory Barton of Topeka, KS; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. A rosary will be cited at 10:00 a.m.

Alton Rachal, age 78, passed away at the Vermilion Healthcare Center of Kaplan on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eustice & Mathilda Villemarette Rachal; 1st wife, Patricia Normand; half-sister, Gloria Drouin; half-brother, George Roy, Jr.; step-brother, Roland Rachal; and step-son Minos Cashat, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Emily F. Rachal; children, Kerry P. Rachal, Patrick J. Rachal, & Carolyn R. Cormier; step-children, Sammy Kershaw, Gerald ''Jay'' Cashat, & Annette Cashat. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, & step-great-grandchildren.

Ms. Juneau, age 66 of Plaucheville, formerly of Echo, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home in Dupont.

Linda was a dedicated sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed being outdoors, gradening, hunting and fishing. Linda was strong willed and a hard working person. She will be greatly missed by those who love her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Juneau; a daughter, Rhonda Juneau; her parents, Linzie and Noddie Smith; three brothers, Julius Charrier, Fred Charrier and Bobby Charrier; and one sister, Doris Chatelain.

Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer (Terry) Dupuy of Plauchevile, Wendi (Brian) McGee of Kinder; her significant other, C.J. Firmin of Plaucheville; a sister, Rubie (Bee) Smith of Pineville; lifelong friend, Cynthia Franks of Pineville; a brother, Jerry Charrier of Kenner; grandchildren, Jesse Ann (Jason) St. Romain, Becky (David) Sellers, Terri (Randy) Winstead all of Plaucheville, John (Jessi) Smith of Moss Bluff, Lauryn Bret and Kyle McGee of Pine Prairie and 7 wonderful great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice Care and Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home for the great hospitality and care for Linda and family during this difficult time.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Neilson Dauzat and Veronica Milligan.

Survivors include his two sons, Gabriel Dauzat of Bunkie and Alexander Dauzat of Pineville; the mother of his children, Dana Fogleman of Bunkie; and his three brothers, Ashley Paul Dauzat of Bunkie, Casey Joseph Dauzat and his wife Nicki of Fifth Ward and Ray Christopher Dauzat and his wife Amelia of Marksville.

Louis Marshall Morrison age 57 of North Little Rock

Louis Marshall Morrison of North Little Rock died Aug. 5. This Christian man lived 57 years.

Born March 13, 1959, to Walter Marshall Morrison and Heloise Alyce Adams Morrison in Crowley, La., he grew up in Bunkie, La., and graduated from Bunkie High School. He also attended LSU-Alexandria and Louisiana Tech.

A lifelong Methodist, Marshall most recently attended First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock. He owned Morrison’s Station in St. Landry, La., for a number of years. He also avidly followed the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.

Preceded in death by sister Jean Alice Morrison, Marshall's survivors include sister Gail Schulte and her husband John of North Little Rock; sister Helen King of Richmond, Texas; sister Nancy LoCoco of Metairie, La.; nephew Chuck Brouillette of North Little Rock; nephew Chad Brouillette and his wife Crystal of Eureka Springs; nephew John Robertson and his wife Christy of Sumpter, S.C.; nephew Ryan Miley of Denham Springs, La.; nephew Adam LoCoco of Metairie, La.; niece Sandi Worley and her husband Lee of Houston, Texas; five great-nephews, four great-nieces, and two very special caregivers: LaShunda Watson and Nola Jones.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd. in North Little Rock. Visitation starts at 1 p.m, with a chapel service at 2 p.m. His ashes will be buried April 23, 2017, at the foot of his father’s grave in St. Landry’s parish's White’s Chapel Cemetery. Memorial services for Ted Louis Carter will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2015 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home in Bunkie with the Rev. Dennis LaFleur officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Carter, age 75, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville.

Mr. Carter attended high school in Bunkie, LA, Louisiana College in Pineville, LA and T.H. Harris Trade School in Opelousas, LA. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served honorably from 1963 – 1969 in the U.S. Army Infantry. He worked for the Sid Richardson and Santa Fe Oil Companies in Eola, LA, as an insurance agent in Florida, as a heavy equipment mechanic in Baton Rouge, LA and for a short time as a carpenter in Bunkie, LA. He was a gifted artist with a love for oil painting, pastels, and sketching. An avid reader, he loved to use the knowledge he gained, and taught himself many skills, including wood working.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Staten and Verlie Vidrine Carter; and one brother, Carl Dean Carter.

Survivors include five sisters, Velma Smith (Don) of St. Landry; Verdie Blood (Leo) of Lone Pine; Carolyn LaFleur (Dennis) of Oakdale; Peggy Larsen (Bill) and Donna Ferguson (David) of Bunkie; one uncle Hudy Vidrine of Deville; one aunt, Ava L. Carter of Kinder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Bordelon, age 88, of Alexandria, born and raised in Fifth Ward, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Napoleon and Linda Manuel Bordelon; wife, Nellie Borell Bordelon; numerous brothers and sisters.

He was a U. S. Navy and Army Veteran. He was a volunteer at the Veteran's Administration for many years.

Donald Ray “Duck” Slaughter died peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 4, 2016 in Bunkie at the age of 62. He was retired from the construction business and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was born on March 25, 1954.
He is preceded in death by his father, Henry J. Slaughter, Sr.; his mother, Sadie M. Slaughter; a brother, Henry J. Slaughter, Jr.; a sister, Ivory S. Christian; and a nephew, Freddie Slaughter, Sr.
Donald is survived by his “wife,” Majesta Bradford of Bunkie; his stepsons, Kelvin Bradford of Bunkie and Brad Bradford of Bunkie; one brother, Joseph (Shirley) Slaughter of Goudeau; his twin sister, Patricia S. Johnson of Bunkie and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Childress, age 78, of Dupont, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack V. Clark, Sr. and Elson Childress; three sons, Rodney Clark, Jack Clark, Jr and Clay Clark and her brother, Felix P. Brassette.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debra Mayberry Clark of Bayou Jack and two brothers, Scott Brassette and wife, Cindy, of Baton Rouge and Kenneth Brassette of New Orleans.

Adele Carroll, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Hessmer Nursing Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carroll; parents, J. D. & Adele Rabalais Guillory; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Beryl Bordelon of Hessmer (Calvin); she is also survived by her three grandchildren, Chris Bordelon (Jenn), Jamie Bordelon, and Bryan Bordelon (Tara) and one great grandchild Kain Bordelon.

Herman Lemoine, age 71, of Bunkie, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at his residence. He was a retired mechanic.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Sandra Bernard Lemoine of Bunkie; his daughter, Cora Mae Lemoine of Bunkie; his three sons, Herman Lemoine, Jr. of Marksville, William Paul Lemoine of Bunkie and Willie James Lemoine of Pitkin; one sister, Irene Savage of Bunkie; one brother, Freeman Lemoine of Conway, AR and one grandchild on the way.

Craig Joseph Ducote, age 53, a native of Bunkie, and a resident of New York City, New York, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
After graduating from Bunkie High School in 1980, Craig moved to New York City to pursue his dream of a career in music. Not long after performing at the Apollo Theater, Craig met his life partner, Jim Hodges, an internationally acclaimed artist. Together they traveled the world.
As Craig battled cancer in his final years, Jim went form artist to angel, doing everything in his power to make the transition form this life to the next one as painless as possible for Craig.
Craig was preceded in death by his father, C.J. Ducote and mother, Adelice Jeansonne Ducote of Bunkie.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four sisters, Bonnie (Sid) Smith of League City, Texas, Linda (Ken) Quartemont of Evergreen, Christine (Mike) Knight of Franklinton, and Debra Dufour of Sr. Louis, Missouri; five nephews, Shannon, Brandon, Shane, Chance, and Ben; and one niece, Kelly. He also leave behind a plethora of friends from around the world and those from New York that surrounded his bedside during his last days.
The family would especially like to thank Craig’s life partner Jim Hodges for showing him the world and for the countless long hours spent caring for him during his cancer treatments and final days.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 mausoleum, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Marksville, La.
Visitation will be observed at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Bontemps St, Marksville, La., Friday, August 19, 2016, from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., with recitation of the Holy Rosary starting at 6:30 P.M., and Saturday, August 30, 2016 from 9:00 A.M., until time of services.
Marian Claire Bordelon Braud, of Marksville, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, in Cabrini Grace Home Hospice, in Alexandria, La.
Pallbearers honored to serve are grandsons, S. Jacob Braud, R. Keith Braud, Andrew J. Byers, Stuart L. Braud, Scott A. Braud, and Nathan L. Byers.
Marian was born February 2, 1925, to Judith Spotorno Bordelon and Simon Vallie Bordelon, in Bordelonville, La., where she resided and was graduated from Bordelonville High School in 1941, at the age of 16. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, La., in May, 1945, during which time she met the love of her life, Shelton J. Braud. Shelton and Marian were united in matrimony on November 28, 1945, in Bordelonville, La. upon Shelton’s return from WWII combat duty in the European Theater of Operations.
Marian’s first job was with the New Orleans Dock Board and Port Authority. She spent many years writing the society column for the Marksville Weekly News and was a beloved 7th grade teacher for Marksville Elementary School for several years and a dedicated spouse and mother to her family.
Marian was also a faithful and dedicated member of the Ladies Altar Society, Marksville Garden Club, Friends of the Library, the Hypolite Bordelon Home Society, La Commission des Avoyelles, Friends of the Fox and many other state and national organizations. She was an officer and committee member in these organizations and often cheerfully volunteered without being asked to give assistance to numerous causes until shortly before her death.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Stephen C. Braud and spouse Mary Ann, Stuart P. Braud, Maj. USAF (ret.), Kenneth W. Braud and spouse Jamsie, Richard K. Braud, LtCol. USAF (ret.) and spouse Georgieanna, and Judith E. Byers and spouse Ricky. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of family members, relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff of the MICU at Rapides Regional Medical Center and especially the physicians and staff of Cabrini Grace Home Hospice for all of the wonderful care and attention given to Marian.

  Mrs. Finn, 69, of Alexandria passed from this life, Thursday, August 18, 2016 at her residence. She was born on December 13, 1946.
  She was a member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary and a Medical Sitter and a former beautician during her working career.
  She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lane Luneau; parents, Merritt L. Luneau, Sr. and Robbie Ryder Luneau; brothers, M. L. Luneau, Jr., Robert Larry Luneau, Malcolm T. Luneau, David Rodney Luneau; and grandson, Justin Ham.
  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Finn; daughters, Julie L. Bruce and Robbie Moreau; step-sons, Paul Finn and Steven Finn; step-daughter, Jennifer Finn; sister, Mary Louise Ledbetter; grandchildren, Joseph W. Ham, III, Amanda Gayle Ham Dicus, Chuck R. Funeral services for Janice Scallan of Bunkie will take place at the St. Paul Catholic Church of Mansura on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 beginning at 10:00am with Fr. Irion St. Romain officiating. Visitation will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and will resume on Wednesday morning at 8:00am. Burial will commence at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Janice Scallan, age 64, passed away at the Dubuis Hospital of Alexandria on Saturday, August 20, 2016. She is survived by her parents, Robert, Jr. & Ruth Scallan of Bunkie; daughter, Laura Lemoine of Bunkie; sister, Elaine McMorris of Bayhills; brothers, Dwaine Scallan of Bayhills & Robert ''Butch'' Scallan, III of Hessmer. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Dalton Landry & Isabella Davison.

Jessie Tidwell, age 60, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Tidwell, Sr. & Joy Bentley Tidwell; sister, Melina Tidwell; brothers, Henry Tidwell, Jr. & Dennis Tidwell; grandson, Shane Michael Lemoine.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Tina Wilkes Tidwell of Marksville; daughters, Christina Lemoine of Simmesport, Tonia Santamaria of Lafayette; Jackie Vargas of Lafayette; sons, Brooks Jeansonne of Moreauville and Jared Tidwell of Mansura; sisters, Edith Holloway of Denham Springs; Carolyn Tidwell of Denham Springs, & Betty Jones of Walker. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Baylee Lemoine, McKenzie Lemoine, Skylar Ray Lemoine, Alexander Vargas, Kyla Alexander, Kaelyn Alexander, Dillan Santamaria, Montana Jeansonne, Madison Jeansonne, & Johnny Jeansonne.

Jessie was a self-employed man owning & operating several retail & grocery stores in Avoyelles Parish and was also a barge captain. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Also in his spare time, Jessie enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.

Donald ''Duck'' Johnson, age 76, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at his home in Mansura. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddison Johnson; mother, Mabel Ducote; step-father, Joffre Ducote; and brothers, Gaston Laborde, Raymond Laborde, & Dale Laborde.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Doris Johnson of Mansura; daughters, Gwendolyn Allen (David) of Lafayette, Ginger Johnson of Mansura, & Stacey Johnson of Lafayette; sisters, Betty Normand of Marksville, Barbara Guillory of Cottonport, & Pauline Laborde of Cottonport; brothers, Roderick Laborde of Cottonport, Floyd Laborde of Cottonport, Wayne Laborde of Marksville, & Paul Laborde of Cottonport. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Spencer Allen, Chelsi Allen, Brock Butts, ChloeRaye Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Blaize Maillet and four great-grandchildren: Aria Rose Thibodeaux, Anna Butts, Hudson Butts, BellaRose Graysen Glaviano.

A butcher by trade, Duck worked at T-Jim's Grocery & Market of Cottonport for 30 years where he got to really know the people of the town. He was a true people person and never met a stranger. Even though he was always one to ''tell it like it is'', he was still a soft hearted, gentle souled man. Those who knew him knew of his love of joking and laughing with others. He was a hardworking, dedicated person who was always there when you needed him. Duck will be missed dearly by many friends, but especially his family.
