Elda Ann Gremillion Ducote
HARAHAN - Funeral services for Elda Ann Gremillion Ducote will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016.
Elda Ann Gremillion Ducote, 81, a gracious and devoted wife and mother passed away at home with her family by her side on Friday, August 26, 2016. She was born at home in Plaucheville, September 30, 1934, and a resident of Harahan for the past 63 years.
Elda was an active member of St. Rita Church serving as a volunteer in the school, the Bereavement Committee, the Alter and Rosary Society, Food Pantry, and with the Parish fair stuffing eggs. She devoted her life to caring for others in addition to her family, especially her twin nieces, Carol and Carolyn.
She was happiest when she was helping others and a willing hand if there was any work to be done, including working alongside her husband in the construction business.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ned E. Ducote; her sisters Floris Lemoine, Mabel Brignac, and Emma Lou Jeansonne; her brother Haywood Gremillion; 10 half-brothers and sisters; and her parents, Abel (born 1869) and Louisa Kimball Gremillion.
She was the last of her father's 15 children, of three wives, being twice widowed; a legacy which spanned 144 years.
She is survived by sons, Andre (Ann) Ducote, John Ducote, and Nelson (Jeanine) Ducote; her five grandchildren, Brian (Jessica) Ducote, Angelle (Wesley) Price, Danielle Hynes, Nick (Kelly) Ducote, Michelle Ducote; and 11 great-grandchildren.
